Having a Fever and Being Pregnant

It may seem strange, but it is actually quite common to develop a mild fever during pregnancy. It is caused by a viral illness that usually happens during pregnancy or after delivery.

When one has a mild fever during pregnancy that is only of short duration, it is not a major concern. It might help to take some acetaminophen to take the edge off.

A pregnant person with a mild fever should rest. This is not the time to soldier through one’s routine. Women who have any illness during pregnancy have to think about resting for the baby’s sake.

If the mild fever during pregnancy does not subside after a few days, then it might be something more serious. If a woman has other complications aside from the fever, then she should always go right away to the doctor. However, if the symptoms are not severe, she might choose to wait until the virus has run its course.
